Siegel, a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA, will be hosting the second segment of Eagle Hill’s virtual Speaker Series on February 10, 2021 at 7 p.m. He will be speaking about his recent publication, The Power of Showing Up: How Parental Presence Shapes Who Our Kids Become and How Their Brains Get Wired, which demonstrates what parents and teachers can do to make a lasting difference for their students. There’s no way to know what kind of adult your child will grow up to be, but one way or another, every action taken by the adults in a child’s life impacts who they become.

A key theme in this book are the Four S’s, four simple building blocks of a child’s healthy development, which we can leverage to better identify the ways to show up for our kids making sure that they are:

  • Safe
  • Seen
  • Soothed
  • Secure

The Power of Showing Up utilizes scientific research to inform its readers through testimonials, easy to understand illustrations, and effective tips to navigate the Four S’s in every circumstance. Register here to hear Dr. Siegel speak about these critical resources and strategies.
